Vue interface color presets

Postby bira3D » Wed Apr 13, 2011 11:29 am

Here are some Interface color presets I've made. I've been working with them for a while and I think they're ok, just something different than the usual black and white.

They are all meant to work with "Graded background" option on, found in the Interface Color Editor
and usually go under C:\Program Files\Vue ...\Environment\Presets\Personal folder.

I'm really sorry, the image is not showing up. It works all right in other sites. If you'd like to edit the post vovka, please do! I've searched for it but I haven't found any buttons.

My intention with the color presets was to highlight edit fields and selected options, make them "pop" a little from the rest.

Thank you!

Go to C:\Program Files...\Vue ...\Environment\Presets\Vue.
Create a new folder there and name it "Personal", then copy the downloaded contents to this folder.

To change presets, open Vue and in the menu bar, go to: Display => Interface colors, to open the "Interface Color Editor"
At the bottom right, click on Load, navigate to the personal folder you've just created and open any file (ics). Click on apply and hit Ok. That should be it.

It didn't work ;(
Or more to the point, there doesn't seem to be the option to change the interface colors.
I can't seem to find the "Interface Color Editor" anywhere.
But looking into the Vue folder on C Drive there are presets there but once again I cant find that option.
What am I missing ?

thanks in advance

Did you try File > Options - General Preferences tab? There should be an option on the bottom right on your screen called Load interface presets

You can access form the Options Tab as well, although, the option "Load interface Presets" will load a Max, Maya, etc, layout.
A better option is "Interface colors" or to assign a shortcut (Operations => Interface Colors => I)

Very important, I've made these layouts to work with "Gradated Background" checked, as you can see on top of the Interface Color Presets (image) highlighted in blue.

Hope this helps:

Hi
Mari Ann : There doesn't seem to be that option in the General Preferences tab (see image)
Bira 3D : I double checked the General Preferences Tab also the Display options tab and the option doesn't seem to be there (see images).

it is Vue 8 Complete not Xstream or Infinate (just my luck )
But when I drilled down to the presets folder in the Vue directory on C Drive there are the Maya, Max etc: presets but I cant find a way to get to them.. (see image)

I really hope we can get this to work, I am not to fond of the stark white interface.

thanks in advance for any help.

Ouch, I see what you mean. I have Vue Infinite and not Complete. Hopefully, someone experienced with Vue Complete can chime in and help you.

I see what you mean...

I cannot be much of a help too, but I think that Vue is looking in these folders and picking your layout out of them, in your case, in the Vue 5 Infinite's folder.

What if you pick a different one, say "Lightwave. ics", name it just like the one you have in the Vue 5 Infinite's folder and replace the original with that one? To "fool" Vue, eh, eh? :?

BE CAREFUL! Make a backup copy of your Presets folder, in case anything goes wrong!

It's just an idea. I cannot guarantee anything, ok? E-on gave those presets to you anyway...

Thanks again Bira
I tried your suggestion and more, nothing works, I am not sure what or where Vue is being told to look for the color scheme.

Will just have to put up with the stark interface.

thanks again
